unfinished fic meme; aka how did I ever let it get this bad?
Post a sentence (or two or a paragraph) from as many of your WIPs as you want, with no explanation attached.
1. It’s two in the morning, but Raj and Howard aren’t walking straight, and Sheldon’s eyes are wet and she knows for a fact he didn’t do this on purpose (and she’s going to kill Raj and Howard tomorrow) but she sends the pair to Sheldon’s apartment to sleep it off, and takes Sheldon in.
2. “It seems I am in need of your services, Miss Watson,” Sheldon says, hand clutching against his side, red seeping from between his fingers.
3. Leonard scans the equations, frowns as he looks at the different simulations, listens uneasily as Sheldon launches into a mini-lecture that he keeps pausing in the middle of, turning and looking at the white board. ”This isn’t possible,” he says underneath his breath.
4. “Cas,” he says, and it’s the utter, breath-taking trust in his voice when he says your name, the Faith that he has never given anyone, not John, not even Sam, and when he says your name you can feel it’s effect along your entire body, this human form whose reactions you’re still learning, but this doesn’t need to be learned, this is instinct, this is all of your senses crooning home.
5. Carter had jokingly suggested tying glow sticks to their limbs, and the others had (to his dismay) agreed, because (and here’s where the long technical explanations emerge) there was some interference, and even batteries probably wouldn’t work, and oh yeah, it might disrupt their bodies chemical and nervous systems, but really, no worries, and it had to be done after all.
6. She never thought he’d break her heart, and now she can’t figure out why she didn’t, why she didn’t know all along, why she didn’t run away from him when she had the chance, before it all went to hell, before everything fell apart.
7. Pretend it’s July. Pretend you can feel the heat beating down on your back through your white cotton shirt, that it sticks a little to the small of your back from where you’ve already started to sweat.
8. Lovesick is a kind of sick.
9. It’s not until that night, after she and Francine and Clive and Tish and Leo have all gathered together and assured each other that they’re alive and listened to each other’s stories and shared a couple nice-sized pints to take the edge off yet another landmark day in the Jones family that she realizes Tom hasn’t called yet.
10. How they all fit together he hasn’t quite figured out, but now he has the three of them, the three little pieces that are his to play with and destroy at his leisure, and he can feel the warm glow of it all fill him up inside, beckoning, dancing along with the drums, and he smiles, slowly, stepping closer to the girl.
11. He’d be an excellent kidnapper, thank you very much, and ah, yes, this is the point during his monologue when Martha was usually around to smack him and tell him to stop being creepy, because yes, this had definitely just entered the creepy monologue point.
12. It hurt to watch him, because no one seemed to notice how thin he was stretched, how much love he gave without getting anything back, how he lived his life with such certainty, within such black and white lines that he was being forced to the conclusion that no one cared because he simply wasn’t worth it.
13. “Think of the prophecy, Draco. If anyone’s going to be snogging You-Know-Who, it’s Harry!”
Harry threw a disgusted look at the two of them. “That’s it, I knew I was getting shafted but this is ridiculous. I quit.”
14. She wants him to hurt a little for old times’ sake.
15. “Penny,” he says, words rough as they drag their way out of his throat, “Penny, I love you.”
“Penny, be brave.”
16. She comes back from Vancouver laughing.
17. “Trust is something to be earned, Doctor. You of all people should know that.”
18. It sounded like rubbish. She was sure he could’ve changed it back, but ohno, he was the Amazing Ginger Man.
19. Peter is furious. Completely, utterly, unreasonably furious.
20. “People don’t just disappear!” she’d yelled.
21. “You need to stop babying the boy. He’ll grow up soft, like that brother of yours did, and one crazy in the family—”
22. There was a time—he remembers it clearly, with all the bitterness and distance of time lost—when she had begged him not to.
23. “I’ve flown most things that can fly, Major. And a few that can’t.”
24. “Completely?” she asks, because she’s had enough of half-lifes, no matter how brilliant she makes them.
25. What he needs, really, is another Adventure. (Yes, capitalized. Captain Jack doesn’t deal in lower case adventures.)
26. Jack meets her on a dusty street, except his name is Simon, and he’s about to take Donna Noble on the ride of her (new) life.
27. She meets his eyes squarely when he finally does, because she’s a grown woman, and she doesn’t have to answer to anyone, not even Jack.
28. “You’re like a fucking cat,” Craig says, clearly startled at Jeff’s arrival out of thin air, but the statement brings a choked laugh out of Conan that relaxes the situation a bit.
29. Neil dazzles. Todd’s spent a lot of time trying to come up with the right word. Shines, engages, mesmerizes, captures, enthralls. All perfectly good, all mostly good, but sometimes—sometimes Todd can’t quite look at Neil.
30. He does not fuss overtly over his scars (he knows men who came back worse, he knows men who did not come back at all). He lives with the bad things he has seen, he has done, he swallows them up and pats them down and moves on.
31. When they started dating, he felt like he’d made it. Gotten the achievement, passed Go, beaten the level, he felt like that part of his life finally made sense.
32. “You want me to go Saturday morning villain, Dean? Reveal my big bad plan so you can escape and stop me?”
33. “Are you asking me to grope you?” Jon asks, fingers on his chin doing little to hide his grin. “Because I’ll grope you. I’ll grope you so well you won’t even remember what it’s like not to be groped by me.”
And yes, YES OKAY, I have like a million other WIPs practically littering the internet. Everywhere. Yes. I remember. (And yes, I hate myself a little.)

Poor WIPs. I feel so sorry for all of them. Mine. Yours. Everyone's.

The worst, I think, are the ones which are half-done, because then I really should just finish them, but there's still a lot of them to write.
Just imagine if everyone decided to finish even a fourth of their WIPs. Imagine the fic that would come flooding into the world!

And then one of my other never-posted fics is at 4K right now and that feels like a lot of work for something never posted. SOMEDAY.
If they could make days last for 36 hours and bottle a lifetime supply of endless inspiration and energy, we could do our WIPs. It would be MAGNIFICENT.

Whatever you write - finished or unfinished - I look forward to reading!

Also: ♥ How have you been? How's life?

As for me, I've been good - currently really into BBC Sherlock - have you seen it? I know you have great love for the '09 film and, while this is different, its' still Holmes and there is still Sherlock/Watson - so, you know - I'm loving it.
AND AND AND there will be more RJD/Jude Sherlock soon enough - gah! <3

You could always drop by here and discuss your idea - and you can always drop out before the first draft is due if you don't think you can make 15k.
And I have seen BBC Sherlock! I quite enjoyed it =) And yess I'm also excited for the utterly shameless flirting of RDJ & Jude <3

Excuse me while I go pick my jaw up off the floor.
Seriously, and I thought I had a lot of WIPs, but you totally stomped me.
Also, reading this has reminded me of your brilliance. ♥
P.S. You totes have a WIP that I tend to stare at while longingly hoping for another part (though I don't think it was on this list. I may have to read these again to check). And yes, I did just say "totes." /guilt-trip. =D Also, I may eventually steal this meme.

These are all WIPs that haven't been posted anywhere, they're just hanging out in various degrees of completion (some have a couple of paragraphs, a few have almost ten pages) in my 'unfinished fics' file on my comp ;)
Given that I have two other WIPs on LJ, beside the two SH ones, I refuse to post anything else that isn't completed, hahahasighhhhhhhhhhh.
