Two weeks after Penny arrives in Pasadena.
:) I heart this story something fierce!

She sings in the shower and drinks wine and is always running late, and he keeps careful timetables and an even-keeled life. Maybe it shouldn’t work, but then Sheldon has ever and only reshaped his life to accommodate one person, the same person who accompanies him to the comic book store and keeps the food organized in the cabinet.
Penny settles into his life as if she’s always been there. She goes out for auditions and she talks him into going out for food.
Sometimes she sits on the couch cross-legged facing him, and they talk about that play and that semester and the people they’ve left behind. (Sheldon’s left a string of people behind him, in Texas and in Omaha and in Germany, but he’s only ever missed two people. Missy, he sometimes thinks with a smile, would get along quite well with Penny.)
Penny’s determined that she’s going to make it big. Sometimes she steals Sheldon’s whiteboard and sketches out plans—Sheldon winning his Nobel, her winning an Emmy, the way their lives connect and separate and always connect again.
Their second first kiss is one month after she’s moved in. They’re up late talking and she gets up to make hot chocolate. As she comes back she sets the mugs on the table and then starts to sink back onto the couch next to him, and his hands settle on her waist as she moves, his mouth finding hers.
In a lot of ways, it feels like coming home.
There’s nothing casual about the way they date. There’s never been anything casual about the two of them. She takes him out to buy him clothes and he takes her out to museums and they soften each other into something easier, even as they push each other on.
She says it’s his kiss for luck that lands her her first part. He doesn’t believe in luck, but he appreciates the sentiment.
(He appreciates her.)

Thank you! I love, love, love when Penny is as goal/career oriented as Sheldon is :D

Penny’s sure this isn’t a thing because Penny doesn’t have things with two guys that are arch-nemeses and probably hate each other even though they were making out, and she definitely doesn’t have things with two guys that are arch-nemeses and probably hate each other even though they were making out at the same time.
So.
This isn’t a thing.
They just have a lot of…one night stands. Together. The three of them.
Sheldon and Wil just kidnap her on the way home from work, and they make her change in the back of the car (Sheldon offering safety advice the entire time) into some fancy dress Wil bought her, and then they go out to some fancy restaurant, and end up a few hours later in a sweaty pile of limbs in a hotel bed.
Or she’s just got back from her shift and about to change into sweats and pour herself a tall tall glass of wine, and Wil and Sheldon just come right in like it’s home sweet home and start setting up game systems on her television, bickering the whole while, and somehow her night gets co-opted into playing Mario Kart into all hours.
And okay, yes, sometimes they don’t actually end up having (oh so fricking fantastic) sex, but.
So maybe they’re friends, then. Friends with benefits?
And okay, yeah, when she’s in the middle of a date, Wil does show up and completely mortify her by crashing it, and okay, yeah, he does call Sheldon, and Sheldon does retreat to his bedroom so he can properly express his disappointment without tipping Leonard off, which—what? Seriously? His disappointment?
Because last time she checked, lots of mind-blowing casual sex does not a commitment make.
Because this isn’t a thing, clearly. The scratch of Wil’s stubble against her bare skin, the curl of Sheldon’s fingers against her body, the tableau the other two make, lean bodies stretched against each other, limbs tangling together—she likes what this is, she loves the sex. Hell, she’s even learning to enjoy the way they pick up in the middle of arguments while she’s still basking in the afterglow.
The problem, maybe, is that as dysfunctional a relationship as the two of them have, they work. And maybe she’s not so sure where she fits in.
Except sometimes, as she runs her tongue along Sheldon’s skin, Wil’s breath warm against her ear as he whispers to her, she can feel the balance between the three of them, the give and take, and sometimes, when Sheldon’s head arches back just so and Wil’s words jumble and lose coherence, his hands tightening against her waist, sometimes she stops caring and just settles in for the ride.

And Penny’s always known this, she’s known it since she fell down in the shower and Sheldon helped her into clothes and drove and waited in the emergency room with her; the most successful way of pulling Sheldon out of his comfort zone is when someone else needs him. Sheldon isn’t exactly what one would call a great friend. He’s annoying and know-it-all-ish and often a jerk. He tends to be there when you need him, though.
So when Raj looks over at Sheldon, teeth worrying his bottom lip, and says, “Come on, just one drink,” Penny knows that Sheldon can see how ill at ease Raj is, how unbearably difficult all of this is for him, and isn’t even that surprised when Sheldon just deflates.
“Just one,” he says, “And with very little alcohol, given that I have a very low tolerance as I never drink. And preferably something that does not taste absolutely terrible. And not a beer. And I will not be convinced to have more than the one, so please don’t attempt to use your wide Disney eyes and trembling lower lip to coerce me again, Rajesh Koothrapali.”
Penny giggles behind her hand as Raj relaxes back into easy banter.
After the third drink, Sheldon’s spinning Penny on the dance floor, those lessons his mother made him take all those years ago finally coming in handy as he leads her effortlessly through a salsa. When it’s over, the crowd is applauding and Raj is, for the very first time since they walked in the door, relaxed and laughing.
As Penny walks away to get herself a shot, Sheldon leans against a pillar, unable to stop himself from smiling. An attractive young man with an open shirt comes up and rakes his eyes up Sheldon’s body.
“You looked good out there,” he says. “Are you and she…?”
“Partners?” Sheldon asks. He scoffs a little at the very notion of Penny and he as dance partners. After all, Penny’s never had that sort of dedication, and Sheldon doesn’t dance. “No,” he says, “Definitely not.”
“Then maybe you and I…?” the man asks, gesturing to the floor, a questioning eyebrow raised.
“With a man? I’ve never done it with a man before, but it sounds intriguing!” Sheldon says, bouncing a little on the balls of his feet and leading the man, Paul, out to the floor.
Raj rescues him about the same time Paul starts full-on groping Sheldon’s ass which, unsurprisingly, is about the same moment Sheldon realizes he might have missed something important in the conversation. Out of gratitude, Sheldon takes the girl’s part as he teaches Raj the tango. As Sheldon leans back, pale throat exposed and fingers snug against Raj’s bare skin, Raj tightens his grip on whatever control he has left and reins himself in, yanking Sheldon back to his feet and stalking off in search of shots and make outs.

This is the best. I am very excited that there will be a sequel. Raj's Disney eyes and Sheldon's tango were never more intriguing! &hearts
